Job Summary

The Credit Underwriting Associate - AVP is a seasoned professional role that requires in-depth knowledge of credit risk management and structured finance. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating complex credit risk and making informed decisions to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Origination team to evaluate new deal opportunities and provide credit risk assessments.
  • Participate in due diligence sessions and document client/industry performance, financial trends, and collateral characteristics.
  • Propose internal risk ratings and update applicable scorecards to ensure compliance with business and institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare credit approval memos and submit for approval by senior Underwriters and Risk constituents.
  • Review servicer reports for collateral eligibility, covenant compliance, data integrity, and Borrowing Base coverage.
  • Provide historical asset performance data and other ad hoc credit-related requests to the Origination team.
  • Validate Borrowing Base models for each new deal and subsequent changes.
  • Act as maker/checker for internal databases and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Play an integral role in the credit approval process for deal post-closing amendment, consent, and waiver requests.
  • Coordinate with the Audit manager and senior Underwriters on audit-related matters.
Requirements
  • Credit experience in structured finance/securitization within a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a keen sense of ownership and diligence.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment to meet deadlines and mitigate credit and operational risks.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Economics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business Finance, or Mathematics.

3-6 years of relevant experience in credit risk management or equivalent training and experience preferably in the financial services industry.
