POSITION SUMMARY

The Cake Designer at Niemann Foods is tasked with delivering exceptional quality cakes for both everyday occasions and special requests, while ensuring a safe and knowledgeable work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide outstanding customer service to guarantee complete satisfaction.
  • Skillfully design and showcase a variety of cakes in display cases.
  • Create and decorate cakes using both manual techniques and decorating kits.
  • Efficiently manage and fulfill special cake orders.
  • Promote cake products to enhance sales.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and manage inventory.
  • Remove outdated products from inventory.
  • Organize and fill the cake display and freezer.
  • Prepare icing and maintain cleanliness in the design area.
  • Adhere to all Health Code regulations.
  • Comply with store and department policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety protocols and serve as a role model for safety practices.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Six months to one year of relevant experience or training.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • Ability to read and understand safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presentations in small group settings.

MATH SKILLS

  • Basic understanding of math concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Food Handler's Certification as mandated by state law.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

  • Slip-resistant shoes with closed toe and heel.
  • Hair net and apron.
  • Safety cutter and gloves.
  • Uniform as per store policy.
  • Standard bakery equipment including knives, ovens, and mixers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Reach, stoop, kneel, and communicate effectively.
  • Lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.

Frequently required to:

  • Engage in overhead lifting and climbing.
  • Lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.

Occasionally required to:

  • Sit, crawl, and lift/move items up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. Occasional exposure to wet conditions, extreme cold, and cleaning chemicals.
