Role Summary:
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation and dispensing of medications while ensuring the efficacy and safety of drug therapies. This role involves collaboration with medical staff regarding medication management and providing patient education on medication use as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately processes IV and unit dose physician orders as well as outpatient prescriptions in compliance with legal and departmental standards, maintaining efficiency and minimizing unnecessary interruptions.
* Demonstrates critical thinking skills to assess situations, evaluate alternatives, and select appropriate actions in fulfilling orders, offering drug information, and resolving general inquiries. This skill set is utilized to enhance patient outcomes through effective communication with physicians and provision of drug information, documented to reflect a positive impact on patient care.
* Actively contributes to the enhancement of the Pharmacy's reputation by engaging in clinical initiatives such as disseminating drug information (newsletters, memos, dosing charts, guidelines, in-service training, drug class reviews, etc.) for pharmacy, nursing, or medical personnel, or by participating in the development of programs and procedures (such as order sets, protocols, guidelines, etc.) that elevate patient care or provide educational opportunities (hospital or community) as evidenced by documentation. Distinguished contributors are involved in four or more activities.
* Initiates or oversees projects alongside daily staffing responsibilities that are either short-term or ongoing, contributing to departmental operations, and performs additional duties as assigned by management. Distinguished contributors engage in two or more activities.
* Communicates effectively and clearly with relevant personnel regarding issues, challenges, changes, or observations, detailing actions taken to avert adverse events in patient care. Provides guidance to technicians, ensuring clear and positive communication for timely completion of tasks. Distinguished contributors offer solutions to identified challenges and provide direction to technicians when performance expectations are not met.

* Licensed Pharmacist in the state of North Carolina.
