Job Title: Reliability Engineer for Vehicle Interiors

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team at Tesla, specializing in vehicle interiors. As a key member of our reliability team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing reliability into our vehicle interior structures and seats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement reliability into vehicle interior structures and seats
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to understand emerging designs and architectures
  • Identify risks associated with these architectures and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop and implement test plans to assess the reliability of our products
  • Provide reliability analyses and suggestions to improve the reliability of our products
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in a reliability engineering role or on mechanical systems related to automotive applications
  • Solid knowledge of material properties and failure/degradation mechanisms for polymers, fabrics, foams
  • Knowledge of plastic part design and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of Highly Accelerated testing methods and governing equations for different types of acceleration models
  • Experience with developing reliability guidelines and inventing novel ways of reliability testing
  • Working knowledge of reliability statistics including Weibull analysis, and experience with statistical software such as JMP, Minitab, etc.
  • Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-sectioning and EDX
