Position Overview

We provide a merit-based remote work program contingent on job responsibilities. Following initial in-person training, this role may offer the flexibility to work from home up to three days a week.

Auto-Owners Insurance, a highly regarded insurance provider, is in search of a driven individual to join our Underwriting division as a Product Development Analyst. The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conducting thorough research and analysis of competitor and industry-standard products for benchmarking against similar offerings by the Company.
  • Identifying and researching statutory compliance updates, new product introductions, and modifications to existing coverage offerings, rules, and guidelines. If necessary, develop and present comprehensive proposals based on research findings.
  • Planning and executing the launch of new initiatives and assessing the impact of changes post-project completion.
  • Assisting in the development of business specifications for newly approved coverages and/or revisions to current products.
  • Creating new rule pages or updating existing ones in response to new coverage introductions and/or modifications to current products, including the development and revision of coverage details and eligibility criteria.
  • Compiling rule pages and forms for submission to state insurance departments in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Communicating and addressing inquiries from state insurance departments regarding submitted rule or form filings.
  • Developing and presenting training materials related to projects.
  • Analyzing complex loss experience and other statistical data of existing products from a usage and profitability perspective, and recommending enhancements.
  • Maintaining punctual attendance in accordance with an assigned work schedule at a Company-approved work location.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and respond to documents such as insurance policies, procedure manuals, forms, and endorsements to evaluate information, consider alternatives, and make independent decisions.
  • Capability to gather information, formulate opinions, and clearly articulate decisions on product development using sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to select, reject, or propose alternatives for a given project within the guidelines and philosophy established by the Company.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute complex instructions.
  • Ability to organize and independently manage assigned tasks under general supervision.
    •Ability to uphold confidentiality and data security.
  • Willingness to engage in and demonstrate active learning in approved educational programs.
