Position Overview:
The Spartanburg facility is a cutting-edge coffee roasting and pod packaging operation, complemented by a comprehensive beverage distribution center.

This site will adhere to the foundational principles of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean manufacturing methodologies, and the effectiveness of High-Performance Teams.

All team members at the Spartanburg facility will have distinct responsibilities and ownership over site operations and their respective functional business areas.

The facility will utilize advanced enterprise information technology systems and manufacturing execution systems, alongside highly automated processing, packaging, and material handling equipment, all governed by standardized lean processes.


Compensation:
This is a salaried, exempt role compensated on a biweekly basis. The salary is flexible and based on the candidate's level of experience.


Key Responsibilities:
As the Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager, you will oversee the comprehensive safety and environmental initiatives for our Spartanburg facility, with a primary emphasis on the manufacturing environment.

Your role will involve the development, implementation, and management of safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental programs to ensure a compliant, secure, and incident-free workplace.

You will advocate for organizational safety and continuous environmental enhancements by collaborating with all departments to assess current conditions and propose safety and environmental improvements.

Strategic direction and initiatives for safety and environmental enhancement will be provided by analyzing and addressing root causes while minimizing corporate liabilities and costs.


Compliance and Culture:
Execute safety and industrial hygiene plans, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to company, local, state, and federal regulations.

Establish and nurture a commitment-based safety culture; develop and analyze leading indicators to prevent accidents and create a continuous improvement plan.

Maintain a system for reporting, monitoring, and rectifying serious safety issues.


Environmental Oversight:
Manage environmental plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, aligning with corporate policies.

Oversee municipality and state-granted environmental permits, including Air Emissions and Stormwater.

Provide supervision of site security contractors to ensure adequate protection of the property, building, and workforce.


Training and Development:
Develop and deliver safety training for site contractors and visitors, ensuring compliance with company safety and environmental policies.

Collaborate with medical providers for case management of injured employees, adhering to HR Return to Work policies.

Create and disseminate incident and accident reports in accordance with company policy.

Implement training programs to enhance proficiency in safe practices, promote safety awareness, ensure environmental compliance, and drive continuous improvement.


Strategic Initiatives:
Drive the execution of strategic EH&S initiatives to meet corporate EH&S objectives, fostering commitment and involvement in safety programs.

Establish site-specific safety and health goals aligned with corporate strategies and objectives.

Analyze safety processes across the organization, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing best practices with peers.

Develop and implement a safety recognition program as part of a robust safety culture.

Communicate and celebrate successes to maintain and enhance company-wide commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Act as the primary liaison with regulatory and government agencies, creating and submitting required reports.

Formulate, maintain, and execute emergency plans, serving as Incident Commander during emergencies.

Investigate significant near misses, injuries, and safety incidents, collaborating with teams to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.

Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational principles, policies, and applicable laws.

Monitor activities to prevent accidents, halting operations that pose imminent hazards to personnel or equipment.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
