The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) is in search of enthusiastic and dedicated student employees who are eager to engage in a dynamic customer service environment. Library Assistants serve as the primary point of contact for patrons utilizing the University Libraries system and are responsible for various essential functions related to library operations.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of library staff, Library Assistants collaborate in a team setting to:
- Support students, faculty, and community members in locating and utilizing library resources.
- Guide student patrons in navigating library services, including course reserves, study spaces, computer access, and printing facilities.
- Open and/or close library facilities, ensuring a secure and welcoming atmosphere for all users.
- Organize and shelve library materials, maintaining an orderly and accessible collection.
- Engage in special projects as assigned by library management.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently enrolled at UNM for at least 6 credit hours during the academic year.
- Possession of a current Work Study award.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven capacity to work creatively and collaboratively.
