Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical and instrumentation systems in a chemical plant environment. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automation, instruments, and controls
  • Install and repair electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systems equipment
  • Work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with management and other teams
  • Participate in project planning, updating drawings, and spare parts inventory management
  • Adhere to company environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certification from an accredited trade school or military occupational specialty (MOS) code with rating equivalency preferred
  • State Electrical License or certificate from a nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship training program preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in repairing and troubleshooting automation, instruments, and controls preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of electro/pneumatic valve actuators, I-P/P-I controllers, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, and various instrumentation transmitters
  • Thermocouples/resistant temperature detectors (RTDs), pressure transducers, flow meters, accelerometers, proximity probes, and various electro-mechanical switches
  • Distributed control systems (DCS)
  • Familiarity with Schneider and Rockwell/Allen Bradley brands
  • Fieldbus communication protocols such as ethernet IP, Modbus, RS-232/485, Fox-Comm, HART, Profibus, and/or other field device tool applications
  • Electrical distribution hardware and software including 4160VAC and 480VAC switch gear, motor control centers (MCCs), intelligent protective relays, and transformers
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced chemical plant environment, with exposure to potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals. The ability to work in extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions is also required.

Physical Demands
  • Able to wear all required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, latex/rubber/leather gloves, safety boots, harness FR clothing and respirator)
  • Able to work in confined spaces and comply with all safety and PPE requirements
  • Lift, carry, and/or push up to 45 pounds
  • Occasionally exert an equivalent of 100 pounds of force using a mechanical device
