Job Summary

Altorfer is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing service and repairs on heavy construction equipment in the field for our Illinois customers.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems
Provide excellent customer service to all customers
Operate equipment in a safe manner to find diagnostic errors, technical problems, and determine proper solutions
Establish and maintain a service-oriented relationship with customers and supervisors
Order parts in equipment parts books or online
Complete service reports and enter the proper data into computer systems

Requirements

Successful completion of a formal technical training program with a minimum of four years' experience in a service setting
Must have engine, electrical, hydraulic, transmissions, and diagnostic troubleshooting and repair skills
Computer literacy required, must be familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel, Outlook, and CAT programs
Must be a self-starter with good time management
Excellent planning and organizational skills required
Must be team-oriented and willing to adapt to change
CDL with air brake required, must have a clean driving record
Ability to work overtime and some weekends when needed
Excellent communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are necessary
Must be able to lift up to 75lbs and provide your own tools
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Working Conditions

This position works in a field/shop environment primarily at customer job sites. May on a continuous basis walk, bend, and lift up to 75lbs. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment for a given situation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
