We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos LLC. As a key member of our Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) organization, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our Occupational Medicine program in accordance with Department of Energy regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain Occupational Medicine processes, procedures, and practices that comply with Department of Energy regulations and our company's policies.
- Establish and maintain an occupational health database system to track medical information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support our operations and support organizations in meeting the requirements of our Occupational Medicine Program.
- Implement an effective injury and illness case management program, including incident management and tracking.
- Support safety program initiatives, including Integrated Safety Management, Behavior Based Safety, and Human Performance Improvement.
- Interface with worker safety teams and coordinate with Line Management to enroll employees in medical surveillance programs.
- Coordinate with Occupational Medicine clinic staff to schedule medical surveillances and drug screenings.
- Collaborate with Industrial Hygienists and work supervisors to ensure exposure information is integrated with the Occupational Medicine program.
- Develop training and briefing material for workers and supervisors on Occupational Medicine program requirements and implementation.
- Interface with our workers' compensation carrier to ensure timely claims filing and review.
- Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health, occupational health, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in work relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Mexico or ability to obtain licensure.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presenting programmatic material to workers and managers.
- Experience developing training and briefing material for workers and supervisors on Occupational Medicine program requirements and implementation.
