Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Enrollment Coordinator to join our team at Samuel Merritt University. This role will be responsible for coordinating recruitment efforts, ensuring compliance with admission requirements, and providing exceptional customer service to prospective students.

About the Role
  • Represent SMU at local, regional, and national recruitment events, fostering relationships with community partners and promoting university programs.
  • Communicate effectively with prospective students, counselors, and healthcare professionals, addressing inquiries and concerns related to academic programs, entry options, and curriculum.
  • Evaluate applications for admission, ensuring completeness of files, prerequisite course completion, and accurate grade point average calculations.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to make informed admission decisions, exercising discretion and judgment in evaluating applicant qualifications.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment (85%)
  • Maintain a strong presence at recruitment events, establishing contact with prospective students and counselors.
  • Develop and execute effective communication strategies with prospective students, addressing admission requirements, entry options, prerequisites, and financial aid.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled Information Sessions, transfer days, graduate and professional days, and other community events.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners, ensuring an SMU presence in these organizations.
Application Processing and Evaluation (10%)
  • Evaluate applications for admission, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in checking files, prerequisite course completion, and grade point average calculations.
  • Consult with academic departments to make informed admission decisions, taking into account prescribed eligibility criteria.
  • Review applications for accuracy after faculty decisions have been made, updating NursingCAS and PowerCampus as necessary.
Other (5%)
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Dean of Admission.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, participate in enrollment planning processes, and work collaboratively with the admission team.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; demonstrated experience in student recruitment and admission preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a strong ability to meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software such as Excel, with moderate experience in data analysis and statistical evaluation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including prospective students, counselors, and healthcare professionals.
