Position Overview:


The Radiologic Technologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine PET/CT, under the guidance of the department manager and medical professionals, is responsible for a variety of critical tasks. These include the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, conducting diagnostic examinations utilizing radiation detection instruments, managing data analysis and visualization software, ensuring the operational integrity and quality control of all equipment, implementing radiation safety protocols, assisting scheduling personnel, and performing various administrative duties as required. As the primary point of contact for patients within the department, the technologist is dedicated to ensuring their safety, privacy, and comfort throughout their experience.


Compensation:
$74.98 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. This per diem role also qualifies for an additional 15% hourly bonus in lieu of benefits.

Work Schedule:
This is a Per Diem position. Employees are expected to fulfill a minimum of 2 shifts or 16 hours each month.

Key Responsibilities:
A.

Independently execute tasks related to the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, including:

- Receiving shipments of radioactive materials in compliance with health department regulations
- Operating and maintaining a dose calibrator
- Measuring radiopharmaceuticals for administration within established dose guidelines
- Performing venipuncture for blood withdrawal or radiopharmaceutical injection
- Exercising sound judgment to minimize radiation exposure
- Keeping accurate records of radioactive materials' receipt, usage, and disposal
- Conducting radiation safety tasks as directed by the safety officer
B. Conduct diagnostic procedures as outlined by the nuclear medicine physician.

This encompasses:
- Operating and ensuring quality control of dose calibrators, Geiger counters, PET scanners, and image processing systems
- Effectively communicating with patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure understanding of their role in the examination
- Collaborating with patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate transmission of procedure orders and clinical histories

Additional Responsibilities:
- Managing the radiology information system
- Utilizing the picture archiving and communication system
- Understanding and adhering to HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
- Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology training program
- Completion of the HIV/AIDS course as required for state certification
- Experience with a comprehensive range of nuclear diagnostic procedures
- Certification from the Washington State Department of Health (CNMT)
- Professional certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTCB or ARRT)
- Current BLS certification required

Knowledge and Skills:
- Maintains high standards for accurate patient information recording

- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
- Maintains professionalism with patients, colleagues, and physicians

Physical Requirements:
Work is classified as moderate in physical demands. Must be able to assist patients of varying weights and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. Requires manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

Mental Requirements:
Position requires high attention to detail and the ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining confidentiality.

Working Conditions:
Work environment typically consists of standard office conditions with potential exposure to communicable diseases and limited exposure to ionizing radiation.
