Job Title: Project Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at Pacific ExecSearch. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for reviewing payroll, accounts payable processing, general ledger reconciliation, allocation code analysis, and assisting with annual audit preparation. This is a hybrid (3 days onsite) direct hire position that offers a great opportunity to join an organization that values its employees and takes pride in its mission.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Review biweekly payroll processing.
  • Prepare monthly detailed labor reports for the expense of payroll and benefits.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting allocation codes monthly/quarterly.
  • Research and respond to grant usage questions.
  • Enter yearly budget files in accounting software system.
  • Enter data into government and funder websites.
  • Prepare monthly payroll related journal entries.
  • Prepare/Review accounts payable transactions.
  • Process benefit carrier payments.
  • Participate in audit preparation and closing processes.
  • Prepare adjusting entries and any account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month end closing tasks as assigned.
  • Accounts Payable backup.
  • Backup to Payroll Specialist.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Business or Accounting required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct payroll and accounting experience serving 300+ employees applying CA wage and hour laws and GAAP.
  • Demonstrated Accounting knowledge including general ledger, accounts payable and reconciliation experience with the ability to apply GAAP to all Accounting transactions.
  • Extensive experience using an electronic payroll and enterprise accounting software.
  • Direct experience producing quarterly and annual payroll reports.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel (including pivot tables and semi-complex formulas).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Non-profit Multi-fund accounting experience is a plus.
  • Paylocity payroll experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage high levels of data in a fast-paced environment using critical decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Multi-location payroll / accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
