Role Summary:
The Senior Custodian, under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager, is responsible for executing skilled and semi-skilled cleaning and maintenance tasks across various patient and non-patient areas. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in the use of cleaning supplies and equipment while performing custodial duties. Key responsibilities include maintaining resilient tile and carpet care through tasks such as stripping, waxing, and extraction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize appropriate protective equipment and follow departmental protocols while cleaning both isolation and non-isolation areas.
  • Thoroughly clean and prepare patient rooms post-discharge, ensuring all linens are fresh and reporting room status accurately.
  • Perform floor maintenance including stripping and waxing, ensuring cleanliness in all areas.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to management.
  • Stay informed about cleanliness standards and the proper preparation of cleaning solutions.
  • Maintain an organized custodial cart, ensuring all necessary supplies are available and equipment is in good working condition.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms, furniture, and high-traffic areas, employing appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Identify and manage waste types, ensuring proper disposal and cleanliness of waste receptacles.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and following instructions in English.
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in various locations and on rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Possess the necessary skills and knowledge for effective job performance.
  • Experience in a service-oriented role.
  • Prior experience interacting with both internal and external clients.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in custodial roles within a healthcare setting is advantageous.
