Job OverviewThe Automation Technician is accountable for executing technical responsibilities associated with the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of automated valve systems, both electrical and pneumatic.
Safety ResponsibilitiesDaily tasks include operating forklifts, cranes, and power tools while ensuring a clean and efficient workspace. The technician will also be responsible for assembling actuators from start to finish and preparing them for shipment.
Key Responsibilities- Retrieve stock and procure items necessary for the assembly and dispatch of customer orders or transfers.
- Inspect all materials, both fabricated and purchased, to confirm compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Document any non-conforming materials and the required corrective actions.
- Maintain records to ensure certification of compliance with product specifications.
- Assemble and test mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic automated systems.
- Conduct pre-installation inspections to support the project team.
- Act as a liaison for technical and quality concerns for local sales representatives.
- Facilitate communication between the sales office and warehouse to ensure timely deliveries.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with manufacturers and both internal and external customers through effective communication.
- Be available to assist the Branch Manager as needed.
- Mount actuators to valves and perform modifications as required.
- Calibrate basic accessories such as limit switches and solenoids.
- Construct panels for accessory mounting.
- Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Applicants should possess a combination of education and experience that equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills for the role:
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of mechanical experience.
- Two years of relevant industry experience, preferably in a similar environment.
- Strong ability to learn about products and processes.
- Basic mechanical understanding of gears, bearings, and moving parts.
- Familiarity with electrical and pneumatic equipment usage.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Typing and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to read and translate schematics and P&IDs.
Candidates must be able to provide documentation verifying legal work status and must be proficient in English to effectively communicate and understand safety instructions.
