Job Summary

At Youth and Family Alternatives, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Worker to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee shift operations, ensuring the smooth running of our residential setting, including facility maintenance, food services, and client supervision.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to agency policies.
  • Act as a role model for clients, demonstrating appropriate behavior and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Transport clients when required, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Arrive to work on time, adhering to agency policies and procedures, and respecting EEO compliance.
  • Work cooperatively in a team setting, demonstrating respect and empathy towards clients, families, and community partners.
  • Supervise residents, assign tasks, and manage behavior, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Monitor residents' whereabouts, notifying law enforcement if necessary, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Lead group discussions and plan recreational activities, promoting socialization and skill-building.
  • Complete intake processes, monitoring notes, and incident reports, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Transport residents if over 21 and authorized, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shelter, adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Manage medications using the Pyxis system, ensuring accurate and timely administration.
  • Complete required training and certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and Managing Aggressive Behavior.
  • Handle crisis situations, using the on-call process, and providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service, completing all paperwork, including shift, food service, and other relevant documents.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: BSW/AA preferred; 2+ years of direct work experience with adolescents.
  • Work experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Florida driver's license and clean DMV record required.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires a high degree of physical activity, including the ability to run, jump, bend, and stand for significant time periods (2+ hours), lift, and carry 50+ pounds.
