Cardiac Device Technician

Wellstar Health System, Inc. is seeking a skilled Cardiac Device Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care by optimizing individual therapy delivered by the patient's cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED).
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics.
2. Analyzes and reprograms various brands of implantable loop recorders, pacemakers, and defibrillators under the direction/supervision of Cardiac Device Specialist 2, Certified Cardiac Device Specialist 3, Cardiac Electrophysiology APP, and Cardiac Electrophysiologist.
3. Evaluates underlying heart rhythms, proper device function, and adjusts cardiac implantable device settings safely to maintain and improve the proper function of the cardiac device and safely optimize patient health.
4. Discusses with and educates patients on the purpose of their device, how to live with their device, and expectations regarding battery life, generator changes, etc.
5. Troubleshoots remote monitor with patient.
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required. Successful completion of licensed practical nursing, EMT, paramedic or cardiovascular tech program is preferred. Successful completion of a full cardiac device educational program is also preferred.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support-Preferred or ACLS - Instructor-Preferred or ACLS - Provisional-Preferred.
