Position Overview

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Materials & Process Engineer to join our esteemed team in the Applied Electromagnetics Division. This role presents a unique opportunity to leverage extensive design and fabrication knowledge to tackle complex challenges related to RF hardware, including antennas and associated support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop interfaces, housings, and structural elements to support and integrate electrical and mechanical components.
  • Establish and refine manufacturing processes to ensure the production of high-quality, repeatable parts.
  • Conduct materials selection and integration to guarantee the production of resilient hardware that meets stringent environmental standards.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • A robust understanding of materials and processes necessary to produce MIL-STD compliant hardware.
  • Proven track record as a creative mechanical designer and problem solver with comprehensive product lifecycle experience.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of materials, capable of effectively communicating and collaborating with fabrication teams.
  • A 4-year degree in mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering is required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD secret level security clearance is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in the aerospace or defense sector, with a portfolio of successfully deployed products.
  • Direct experience with RF hardware, including antennas and circuits.
  • Advanced degree in mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering is advantageous.
  • Practical skills in machining, metalworking, bonding, soldering, welding, and screen printing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems and procedures.
