Staff Attorney

Catholic Charities Community Services seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Immigration and Refugee Services Division. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal representation to individuals and families navigating the complex immigration system.

• Represent clients in affirmative benefits applications to USCIS and removal defense cases
• Advise and counsel migration counselors on general immigrant and non-immigrant status matters
• Develop and implement plans for community outreach and education on legal issues and matters responsive to community needs
• Develop and provide trainings, presentations, and workshops on immigration-related topics
• Collaborate with direct supervisor, managing attorneys, and CCCS Directors to achieve program goals and objectives

• Juris Doctor degree
• Admission to NY Bar (will consider law graduates and attorneys working towards admission)
• Strong experience in immigration law, representing clients in affirmative benefits applications to USCIS or removal defense
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and computer skills
• Ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative team environment

The position is based in the South Bronx office, with significant travel throughout the Lower Hudson Valley. The demands of the job include travel at least 25% of the time, using public transportation or vehicle, and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
