Work Hours: Flexibility to work various hours, including evenings and weekends.

The Voter Education Project is seeking candidates for a canvassing position in Virginia Beach. This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned community leaders looking to advance their careers and gain further experience. The responsibilities of the canvasser may vary based on the project, including tasks such as door-to-door outreach, distributing informational materials, collecting data, persuading individuals, educating the public, collaborating with the canvassing manager, addressing relevant situations, and achieving daily objectives set by the campaign.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Detail-oriented
  • Organized
  • Self-sufficient
  • Experienced in canvassing (minimum of two projects in a canvassing role)
  • Familiarity with canvassing software and platforms

This is a contract role, reporting to the designated Program Manager. Applicants must have completed high school and possess either a diploma or GED. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Canvassing Manager to exceed all on-the-ground performance metrics.
  • Engage with progressive communities in designated areas.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
  • Conduct community outreach.
  • Punctually arrive at the designated site.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Reliable transportation to the work site.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Availability to work as scheduled.
  • Capability to walk for up to 8 hours daily.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Prior canvassing experience.
  • Strong understanding of field targeting and metrics.
  • Local knowledge, including familiarity with Virginia Beach neighborhoods, demographics, and community issues.

Compensation: $22 per hour
