Overview

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. As part of our multidisciplinary healthcare delivery team, you will work collaboratively with physicians and other care providers to serve the growing need of the regional pediatric population.

Job Description

As an Advanced Practice Provider, your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality patient care in our Cardiac Critical Care Unit. Your duties will include:

  • Counseling and educating patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Documenting patient information and delivering care in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Participating in staff orientation and education programs.
  • Conducting patient assessments, ordering diagnostic studies, and performing health screenings.
  • Providing direct treatment and management of cardiac critical care conditions, either through prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • A Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
  • Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing.
  • Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Critical Care Unit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.

Working Conditions
