Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Project Manager to join our team at Hagerstown Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple construction and capital improvement projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage multiple projects, acting as a liaison between HCC and external personnel.
  • Inspect, document, and report on project activities, ensuring compliance with HCC policies and procedures.
  • Prepare progress reports and participate in project meetings and conferences.
  • Critically evaluate plans and specifications, making recommendations for changes and seeking approval from relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, including design, review, and construction phases.
  • Plan projects, including securing architectural and engineering services, and recommending contracts for these services.
  • Assist with securing project and plan approvals from relevant authorities, such as the State of Maryland Department of General Services and County Planning and Permitting office.
  • Manage project design and construction, overseeing design professionals and general contractors, and ensuring compliance with HCC policies and procedures.
  • Enforce HCC policies for conduct and association with students, faculty, and staff, as well as compliance with Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and American Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
  • Provide supervision for testing and inspection contracted through outside agencies.
  • Oversee project commissioning, submission of warranty information, final inspection, occupancy permits, and as-installed documentation.
Requirements
  • A four-year degree in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field, with EHS and USDOT experience preferred.
  • A two-year technical degree or equivalent in college credits or industry certification, with a minimum of 5 years of commercial or relevant project management experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with diverse outside groups and HCC staff.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Maryland state, Federal, and local building code and life safety requirements.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
