About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker 2 to join our Catering team at Oregon State University. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service: Expedite catering event orders, prepare and serve food and beverages, and maintain a clean and sanitary operation.
  • Customer Service: Greet customers and coworkers with a smile and positive attitude, provide friendly and efficient service, and ensure quality products are prepared and served.
  • Inventory and Storage: Maintain an adequate supply of plates, beverages, glasses, flatware, paper products, and cleaning supplies, and stock all assigned areas of service.
  • Lead Worker Support: Assist the lead worker in training student employees, maintaining a clean and sanitary operation, and ensuring that opening and closing procedures are followed.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in a commercial food service utility.
  • Ability to respond positively to changing work demands, carry out directions, and work cooperatively with a variety of personalities.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to understand English and convey written and verbal directions/instructions.
  • Good customer service skills with external and internal customers.
  • Experience in commercial food preparation, operating commercial foodservice equipment, and using small kitchen utensils.
  • Experience with safe food handling and sanitation processes, procedures, and regulations.
Working Conditions

This is a physically active job in a commercial kitchen environment. The incumbent will experience long periods of standing on a hard floor, working with commercial kitchen equipment, and fluctuations in work flow, temperature, and noise level.
