About Us

We have openings for Student Support Specialists at both our High Road School of Hartford Primary & Middle School and our High Road School of Hartford High School.
The High Road School of Hartford Primary/Middle School and the High Road School of Hartford High School are managed by Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI). SESI Schools delivers specialized educational programming for K-12 students who require additional academic and behavioral support to overcome challenges that hinder success in a conventional school environment. Every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and we are looking to recruit an outstanding team member who will play a crucial role in fostering student success.

The Opportunity

The Student Support Specialist will be tasked with collaborating with one or more students and the teacher to provide tailored services and assistance. Responsibilities include monitoring student behavior, tracking educational progress, and maintaining communication with parents. Additionally, the Specialist will help reinforce the curriculum established by the teacher. Every child deserves to reach their full potential, and we are eager to hire an exceptional team member who will play a vital role in promoting student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist students in reinforcing the learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher through appropriate task assignments, one-on-one tutorials, and the implementation of the SESI rotation model
  • Support the Teacher with large group activities, grading assignments, supervising assessments, guiding independent study or enrichment activities, and providing necessary accommodations and modifications
  • Utilize behavioral support and intervention strategies
  • Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff
  • Monitor and document students' growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional objectives
  • Supervise students and ensure they are consistently monitored, including transitions to and from designated areas within the school
  • Light lifting, walking, and/or climbing stairs may be required
Qualifications
  • Preferred college experience and/or Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with youth is preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
