Job Title: Staff Backend Engineer - English Learning Marketplace

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our high-availability production infrastructure. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our Python backend features to support millions of users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fast-moving initiatives to improve our learning experience and determine when to build for scale and when to keep things simple.
  • Collaborate with other backend engineers to design and implement high-availability production infrastructure.
  • Work with MongoDB (or other databases) in production and ensure data consistency and integrity.
  • Develop a product-minded approach to engineering and work closely with our students, tutors, and international team to deliver an exceptional user experience.

Requirements:

  • 8 years or more experience building and shipping Python backend features quickly as part of a team.
  • Tech lead experience designing, building, and scaling high-availability production infrastructure.
  • Experience working with MongoDB (or other databases) in production.
  • Passion for learning and willingness to dive into new and unfamiliar technologies.

Compensation Package: $160,000-$220,000 USD Base Salary + Pre-IPO Stock Options
