Miami Sharks is seeking a highly skilled Rugby Performance Specialist to support our team's success.

Job Summary

This role is critical in delivering top-level care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation programs for rugby players. The successful candidate will contribute to maximizing player availability, recovery, and overall physical performance throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site medical support at all training sessions.
  • Organize and treat players before and after training sessions due to team agenda, coaching staff necessities, and players' requirements.
  • Perform assessments for potential injuries during training and recommend rest or treatment as needed.
  • Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning staff to ensure holistic care plans align with performance objectives.
  • Work with injured players during rugby sessions and gym sessions to optimize their recovery.
  • Collaborate with hydration and snack/meal of the team during training sessions.
Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
  • Assist in designing and implementing individualized injury prevention programs.
  • Support injured players during their rehabilitation journey, both on and off the field.
  • Monitor progress and adapt rehab programs as necessary in collaboration with the Head Physio and S&C.
Pre-Match & Post-Match Treatment
  • Provide pre-match assessments, taping, and preparation to ensure athletes are game-ready.
  • Assist in post-match recovery, including soft tissue work, cryotherapy, and mobility routines.
  • Manage injury reporting and coordinate recovery strategies during the season.
Match-Day & On-Field Duties
  • Provide immediate pitch-side care for injuries during matches, including assessment and first aid for contact and non-contact injuries.
  • Assist in concussion management protocols, ensuring compliance with World Rugby's HIA procedures.
  • Liaise with referees and coaching staff during stoppages to assess injured players.
  • Prepare and manage injury substitution protocols when necessary, in collaboration with coaching staff.
  • Monitor player fatigue and cramping, offering on-the-spot soft tissue treatment or advice.
Medical Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate medical records for all players.
  • Assist with regular communication between the medical team, coaching staff, and players regarding injury status and return-to-play plans.
  • Attend medical meetings and contribute to player reviews.
Team Travel & Logistics
  • Travel with the team for away matches to provide continuous medical support.
  • Help manage logistics for medical equipment and supplies during travel.

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
