Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to work as a Histology Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for accessioning and processing tissue, surgical specimens, foreign bodies, orthopedic devices, and other specimens removed during surgery. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process cytology, biopsy, and aspirate specimens received from other patient care areas
  • Perform immunocytochemical stains and assist the pathologist in processing tissue for immediate frozen sections
  • Arrange for submission of various tissue and gynecological specimens to reference laboratories
  • Report pertinent information to the pathologist, patient care area, or supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and keep work areas organized and stocked
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have a high school education and an Associate's degree or higher from a NACCLS approved histotechnology program or a bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science. You must also be currently licensed in the State of Florida at the histology or cytology technologist level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science, HT/L (ASCP) certification, and two years of hospital experience are preferred.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include competitive pay, comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
