Job Summary

The Restaurant Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Key responsibilities include greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and checking on guests to ensure complete satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service and/or drink service.
  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Serves menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner and according to established service standards.
  • Completes a check back after guest receives meal.
  • Observes guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Computes bill and accepts payment.
  • Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course and completely resets table in a timely manner after guest(s) departs.
  • Completes all opening, running (during service time), and closing sidework assigned each shift.
  • Assists co-workers when needed throughout the shift.
  • Manages guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly and completely.
  • Ensures follow up with guests are performed in a timely manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality service.
  • Follows proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and uses safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Ensures work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of hotel facilities, the hotel area and services to assist guests as appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Complies with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. Able to work varied shifts, including Weekday Evenings, weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the job regularly requires one to Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Carry a banquet serving tray, filled to capacity, overhead/on shoulder; Stand or walk for an entire work shift.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
