Job Description

Arlo NoMad is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Restaurant Server to join our team. As a Restaurant Server, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Your ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain a clean and organized workspace will be essential in meeting our high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations
  • Practice honesty and integrity in all interactions
  • Maintain open communication with managers and other departments
  • Complete opening duties as assigned
  • Adhere to hotel health and safety guidelines
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings
  • Showcase ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Immediately report any accidents or incidents
  • Acknowledge guests with eye contact
  • Use guest names whenever possible
  • Report guest concerns to management in a timely manner

Specific Duties:

  • Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing salesmanship techniques and making recommendations
  • Accurately input orders into the POS system
  • Document all orders on a server dupe pad as a backup record
  • Retrieve beverages from the service bar and serve promptly
  • Open wine and champagne bottles using proper wine service techniques
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly
  • Acknowledge all guests, regardless of their station
  • Interact in a courteous and professional manner with guests, supervisors, and coworkers
  • Make guests feel valued by apologizing and being proactive in resolving complaints
  • Alert management to any issues that arise at a table
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all service areas
  • Retrieve bread from the kitchen, stock bread drawers, and monitor quality and consistency
  • Prep butter/spread according to pars
  • Deliver bread to all tables after orders have been taken
  • Keep linen storage areas clean and stocked
  • Clear each course promptly, using clearing guidelines
  • Properly mark all tables for each course before delivering food
  • Alert management to great guests, big spenders, and anyone else who deserves extra attention
  • Alert the chef to any allergies
  • Alert food runners to position changes
  • Ensure accuracy of guest checks and process payments promptly
  • Complete end-of-night closing check-out
  • Complete running side-work throughout the evening as assigned
  • Notify management of any pertinent information related to the shift
  • Clock in and out for each shift, notifying a manager if unable to do so
  • Follow responsible alcohol practices, carding guests under 40 and never serving to an intoxicated guest
  • Follow health department best practices
  • Properly stock plates, silverware, and condiments to par
  • Communicate supply shortages to management
  • Deliver food to the table accurately, effectively, and with grace
  • Announce items being delivered to guests
  • Be prepared to answer guest questions
  • Accurately and enthusiastically describe menu items and ingredients
  • Know front-of-house and kitchen etiquette procedures
  • Work with the chef to update the kitchen on table status and course readiness
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests
  • Make sure guests have everything they need before leaving the table
  • Interact in a courteous and professional manner with guests, supervisors, and coworkers
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the line, dining room floors, and paths of service
  • Properly stock plates, silverware, and condiments to par
  • Communicate supply shortages to management
  • Clear and re-set tables with attention to detail
  • Complete extra cleaning projects as assigned
  • Complete end-of-night closing side-work as per restaurant standards
  • Complete all opening duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
