Transportation Construction Inspector

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking highly skilled Transportation Construction Inspectors to join our Construction Engineering Inspection team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of highway construction projects in the Marion area and throughout North Carolina.
Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of roadways and structures construction operations, performing calculations and computations as needed.
- Collect and test materials, ensuring they meet specifications and are placed in accordance with standard specifications.
- Monitor and perform inspections on complex and routine highway projects, maintaining accurate records and preparing project estimates.
- Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities for completed work items.
- Read and interpret roadway, bridge, and structure plans and contract specifications.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Proficient in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, and/or OneDrive.
- Ability to work independently, use own judgment, and make decisions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public.
- NCDOT Concrete certification.
- NCDOT QMS Roadway certification.
- NCDOT Conventional Density certification.
- NCDOT ABC Sampling certification.
- NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling certification.
- NCDOT Level II Erosion & Sediment Control certification.
