Job Summary

The Data Integrity Analyst, EMPI plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of medical data records in clinical and non-clinical areas. This position is responsible for directing the review and analysis of medical data records to complete the critical Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) correction process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze medical data records to identify and correct duplicate medical record numbers, overlays, and documentation data integrity issues.
  • Respond to service tickets, prioritize them, and process incoming requests for medical record corrections in a timely manner, considering patient care and safety.
  • Communicate with members of the data integrity team, management team, billing office, ancillary departments, privacy, information services, legal, and clinical team to resolve EMPI issues.
  • Review, validate, and merge duplicate medical records, and perform EMPI remediation tasks for medical record duplicates and overlays.
  • Provide follow-up information on duplicates, overlays, changes, and trends to departments and leadership, and inform manager on status of projects and assignments.
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Information Technology, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), LVN, or RN preferred.
  • Four (4) years of experience in health information management or a healthcare administrative, registration, information services, or other healthcare business role, with Associates or Bachelor's degree. In lieu of a degree, six (6) years of experience in EMPI corrections and data integrity required.
