Service Writer

Smith Turf & Irrigation is seeking a skilled Service Writer to join our team in the Turf Care Equipment division. As a Service Writer, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our service department.

• Field internal and external service department inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Open work orders and maintain control until they are closed and invoiced.
• Schedule, communicate, and maintain system documentation on job start time and completion date, as well as any changes.
• Provide guidance and generate quotes for customer equipment repairs.
• Sell additional service work identified by technicians' inspections and found during repairs.
• Review work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to generating customer invoices.
• Verify and submit work covered under warranty and credit customer accounts.
• Process parts returns to stock and remove from the customer's bill.
• Assist with pulling parts for repair orders, loading, and unloading equipment when needed.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in service, sales, training, or other related work within a mechanical field.
• Strong diagnostic and technical skills.
• Ability to clearly explain the diagnosis and repair of equipment to customers.
• Demonstrable skills in inventory management systems.
• A proven aptitude for delivering top-notch customer service experiences.
• A keenness to learn, adapt, and implement new technologies and methodologies.
• Ability to make swift and effective decisions.
• Capable of routinely handling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
