Company Overview: ZTEX Construction is a prominent heavy civil contractor focusing on earthmoving, concrete work, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and comprehensive project management. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in concrete finishing, concrete carpentry, and formwork construction, demonstrating a positive, collaborative, and diligent work ethic.
Position Summary:
The role involves the safe transportation of heavy machinery, raw materials, and goods, including hazardous materials and waste, to and from job sites. Responsibilities include securing all loads in compliance with TxDot regulations and inspecting loads for damage before and after transport to ensure the quality of delivered equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate vehicles or mechanized equipment to transport heavy machinery between job sites.
- Adhere to all OSHA and TxDOT regulations.
- Conduct inspections of equipment, loads, and materials to identify errors or defects before and after transport.
- Monitor and assess information while driving, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Review load-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure cargo is securely loaded and maintained during transport.
- Maintain constant communication with Superintendents to guarantee timely equipment pickup and delivery.
- Inspect vehicles to confirm that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is operational.
- Secure vehicles by adjusting trailer landing gear as necessary.
- Obtain necessary receipts or signatures for delivered equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of principles and methods for transporting heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant equipment, policies, and procedures to ensure effective security operations.
- Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment and quality standards.
- Awareness of laws, regulations, and procedures related to transportation and construction.
- Previous experience in a construction setting is essential.
- Must possess a current CDL/Hazmat, medical card, and experience with heavy equipment.
- Exhibit a positive attitude, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Comply with all safety regulations and TxDOT requirements.
- Work in various weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and climb repeatedly throughout the day.
- Capable of sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to drive on rough, rocky, or uneven surfaces at construction sites.
Additional Information:
As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination. Background checks may be required based on contract specifications. Reliable transportation to and from work and a valid driver's license are mandatory at the time of application.
