Job Overview

Customs/Trade Specialist:
Utilize a comprehensive understanding of US import/export regulations and requirements to facilitate business operations effectively.

Exhibit a thorough grasp of the internal control framework related to customs and trade, applying it in daily tasks to mitigate risk exposure and avoid penalties.

Address import delays promptly and ensure accurate responses to Broker Requests for Information concerning shipments held during clearance by US Customs, FDA, USDA, and other governmental entities.

Inaccurate or delayed responses to brokers can lead to supply chain disruptions, increased expenses, and potential fines or product seizures.

Conduct compliance audits across various sites/divisions to verify adherence to corporate post-entry and post-export review protocols. Perform monthly risk assessment analyses of US import/export data to detect potential data discrepancies, compliance issues, and opportunities for cost savings. Investigate concerns and communicate findings to the Manager/Director. Ensure that corrective actions are implemented and completed by the respective division.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant field.
  • Skills: Attention to detail, strong communication abilities, capability to follow instructions, and multitasking proficiency.
  • Experience in classification is essential. Customs regulatory knowledge is required. Logistics or accounting experience is not necessary.

Essential: Experience with HTS classification.
