We are seeking an experienced Alaska School District Employee to join our team as a Speech Therapist. In this role, you will assess and treat communication disorders in students aged 3-21, providing services through direct contact and consultation with teachers and parents. This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate and a master's degree in speech and language. The estimated salary for this role is $83,419 per year, based on experience.
This role involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing, as well as understanding vague instructions and handling conflict under pressure. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in teaching/training methods, curricula, and strategies regarding communication disorders. You will work collaboratively with the school team to ensure that students with communication disabilities have full participation in the learning environment and experience academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain required records, including attendance, IEP paperwork, log book, progress notes, based on department, district, and state standards.
- Supervise paraprofessionals, as assigned, in the provision of speech-language services.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions clearly and concisely from parents, supervisor(s), and team members regarding issues related to speech-language therapy.
