Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Service Representative to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a key member of our Admitting Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families, ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients and their families, providing accurate and timely information regarding hospital services and policies.
  • Collect and process patient demographic and financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain necessary information for patient registration and scheduling.
  • Utilize medical terminology and scheduling knowledge to select the correct procedure and coordinate information with other departments as needed.
  • Perform patient registration activities, ensuring accurate financial and biographical data is obtained and properly entered into hospital records.
  • Process insurance verification, notification, and authorization functions, following up on denials and no-response claims.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to resolve issues and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, using electronic verification tools and web-based resources.
  • Collaborate with the Admitting Department to ensure efficient and effective patient flow.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Preferred minimum of one (1) year medical office and/or hospital experience, including healthcare eligibility and benefit analysis or scheduling experience for diagnostic testing and/or surgery.
  • Knowledge of office management practices, including billing and scheduling within healthcare.
  • Basic computer familiarity and experience, as well as the ability to operate basic office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints.
