Primary Care Physician

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. As a Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to a panel of patients managed under PCMM guidelines. You will work closely with a Patient Aligned Care Team to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care to our patients.
Responsibilities- Manage chronic conditions and evaluate and treat inter-current medical conditions.
- Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
- Collaborate with a Patient Aligned Care Team to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care to an assigned panel of patients.
- Provide comprehensive gender-specific care for female veterans as a Women's Health PCP, including age-appropriate cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management, and initial evaluation of basic gynecological concerns.
- Perform a variety of disease prevention-related activities, including gender and age-specific screenings, mental health screenings, and health promotion activities.
- Screen for, evaluate, and treat uncomplicated common mental health disorders, including depression and common addictions, with referrals made to mental health providers for further evaluation and treatment as appropriate.
- Provide Buprenorphine treatment in the management of Opioid Use Disorder per DEA guidance.
- Supervise or collaborate with primary care mid-level providers.
- Act as a surrogate for absent primary care providers when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts.
- Regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings.
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Licensure & Registration: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed an Internal Medicine or Family Residency Training Program, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
- Board Certification & Primary Care outpatient care setting experience within the last 2 years.
