The Office of Asylum Seeker Operations (OASO) is a critical component of the City's response to the influx of asylum seekers. As a Counsel, you will play a key role in providing legal analysis and guidance to City agencies and senior executives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal analysis and guidance to City agencies and senior executives on all aspects of asylum seeker operations.
  • Evaluate standards and guidelines related to audits and assist City agencies in establishing best audit practices.
  • Identify trends and common concerns across City agencies and help develop appropriate responses.
  • Communicate with executives and agencies on significant risk areas, compliance issues, and other programmatic concerns.
  • Lead and coordinate key projects to identify and assess risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide briefings to the Mayor and senior staff on critical issues and recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar.
