We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Supervising Attorneys with extensive immigration experience to staff application centers for asylum seekers.
Job Summary:The role of the Supervising Attorney is to provide support and training to application assistants and asylum seekers as they fill out applications. The Supervising Attorney will foster and encourage a positive, productive environment and will bring a 'can-do' attitude to the wide variety of questions that arise.
Responsibilities:- Train and support application assistants as they support asylum seekers in submitting asylum applications.
- Advise application assistants and asylum seekers regarding the requirements for submitting an asylum claim.
- Ensure application assistants comply with NYC program guidance and reporting requirements.
- Comply with NYC program guidance and reporting requirements.
- Admitted to practice in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- Clear of any attorney disciplinary charges sustained in the past 10 years in any jurisdiction in which they were licensed.
- At least 2 years of full-time experience practicing immigration law, including asylum and other humanitarian immigration benefits.
- Willingness to work in person and on site at the NYC Navigation Center for the duration of the project.
- Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Candidates must have an EOIR number.
