Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, planning, tracking, managing, and leading the execution of tasks, while effectively negotiating with stakeholders and managing risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive high-level guidance and translate it into plans of action.
  • Track and drive progress through to completion.
  • Communicate status with clarity and brevity to internal and external customers.
  • Adapt to evolving needs with confidence and respond to changing priorities.
  • Manage internal and external relationships.
  • Create and maintain various reports.

Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into tasks.
  • Ability to anticipate and mitigate programmatic implications of technical challenges.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with government stakeholders, company leadership, and technical subject matter experts in a wide range of disciplines.
  • Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets.
  • Experience making significant decisions for business.
  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant technical field.
  • Active SECRET security clearance.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
