GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Field-Based Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of the store by assisting in various maintenance tasks and ensuring the store environment is safe and welcoming for both customers and employees. This position is designed to facilitate the development of skills necessary for future roles within the company.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the recruitment and staffing processes.
  • Participate in store merchandising efforts, including staging, stocking, and organizing merchandise to align with established guidelines.
  • Support inventory management by executing proper procedures for damages, markdowns, and stock control.
  • Follow established ordering practices to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support.
  • Serve as a role model by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in store opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the secure handling of company funds.
  • Assist in maintaining the financial integrity of the store through effective cash management and security practices.
  • Help maintain a clean and well-organized store environment.
  • Operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Analyze operational statements to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in accordance with company guidelines.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety rules and operational manuals.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Familiarity with cash handling and accountability procedures.
  • Ability to learn and operate cash register systems.
  • Understanding of inventory management and merchandising principles.
  • Knowledge of safety and security policies.
  • Experience in recruitment and employee management processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving abilities in diverse situations.
  • Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred in certain locations.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in a retail setting is preferred for external candidates.

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Frequent bending and lifting of merchandise.
  • Regular handling of various equipment and merchandise.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional climbing and driving may be required.
  • Fast-paced work environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.

Note: This position may require some travel with limited overnight stays.
