Job Summary

BREC, LA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our parks and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of commercial type equipment, including riding mowers, trucks, trailers, tractors with various attachments, aerifiers, blowers, pressure washer, powered hand tools, and other related maintenance equipment.
  • Repair and maintain playground equipment, athletic field maintenance and set-up, and perform other repairs as directed.
  • Level park surfaces, dig/fill ditches, load dirt/sand/gravel/brush/debris and other materials onto trucks.
  • Cut/load/remove tree limbs.
  • Drive trucks and trailers loaded with equipment from site to site.
  • Assist trades staff with specialized repairs as directed.
Requirements
  • No formal education required.
  • Must read & write the English Language to receive work instructions.
  • Valid LA driver's license.
  • 6 months to 1 year relevant experience in grounds maintenance involving manual labor.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of operating a variety of grounds maintenance tools.
  • Skill in use of operation of hand tools and a variety of commercial type equipment involved in grounds maintenance.
  • Basic mechanical ability.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities.
  • Ability to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., occasionally.
  • Ability to follow simple oral & written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
