JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Success Advisor is responsible for planning, executing, and assessing initiatives related to academic guidance and mentorship for students within the College of Business. This role includes coordinating special events, programs, and activities that enhance advising, orientation, recruitment, and student retention. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - ACADEMIC GUIDANCE:
Designs, implements, and evaluates strategies for academic advising and mentorship for undergraduate students pursuing pre-business studies. This includes assisting with admission processes, course registration, academic progress tracking, policy interpretation, career guidance, major transitions, graduation criteria, credit transfers, course substitutions, and personal development support.
Offers resources for students seeking further academic information, engagement opportunities, university support services, and strategies for success. Additionally, provides support to departmental faculty academic advisors and maintains accurate records of services rendered.30% - Essential - PROGRAM COORDINATION:
Serves as the primary coordinator for a key program vital to the operations of the Academic Advising Center, such as Freshman Orientation, Transfer Orientation, Bridge Program, or Retention Programs. Develops and maintains a comprehensive continuity book for this program, ensuring it is updated annually and available for review during performance evaluations. Engages in relevant workshops and university meetings, and ensures that a trained backup is prepared to assist as needed.
10% - Essential - STUDENT ENGAGEMENT:
Participates in Freshman and Transfer Orientation initiatives and contributes to the Living and Learning Community program as required. Involvement in recruitment or admission events for the College may also be necessary.
10% - Essential - ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engages in relevant workshops, university meetings, and fulfills other assigned responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience in student services programs is essential.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree in Higher Education or a related field preferred.
Work Experience - A minimum of 3 years in student services with a focus on academic advising is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrates a solid understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to academic advising and can apply this knowledge in various scenarios.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory duties are required for this position.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No fiscal responsibilities for the department's budget are associated with this role.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
10% - Overnight Travel may be required for conferences and events. Occasional after-hours work may be necessary for events and departmental activities.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hours: 37.5
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range:
$37,860 - $44,500
Salary is determined based on various factors, including previous experience, knowledge, skills, and performance in accordance with compensation guidelines.
Normal Operations
Expected to adhere to emergency facility closure directives and is not typically required to work on-site during emergency situations.
