General Overview
As a Vocational Nurse Specialist, you will deliver essential patient care, engage in educational initiatives for both patients and the community, and support the execution of the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Program. Maintaining the confidentiality and security of patient information is paramount. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver patient care under the guidance of healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
2. Conduct basic laboratory assessments.
3. Facilitate patient and community educational programs.
4. Assist in data collection and analysis.
5. Participate in chart audits for the QA/QI Program.
6. Support staff in maintaining cleanliness and organization in examination and laboratory areas.
7. Provide individualized patient education on health conditions, dietary needs, and care management as directed by healthcare providers.
8. Manage Home Health Orders.

9. Process medication refills with provider approval and manage authorizations for referrals and diagnostic testing.
10. Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Experience Requirements
Prior experience in a medical office setting, whether in a private practice or public health clinic, is required.

Educational Qualifications/Certifications
Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold an unrestricted license in the State of Texas.

Skills
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical Demands
Upon receiving a preliminary job offer, a physical examination will be required. The role involves light to medium physical activities, including standing, walking, reaching, and bending for up to eight hours daily. Good vision is necessary, and the ability to lift up to thirty-five pounds is required. Tasks may include simultaneous multitasking, making judgment calls, and collaborating closely with team members.

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential, along with the ability to pass a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check.
