Medical Care Specialist

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. The RN prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. The RN administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. The RN observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care.
- Direct and assist in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures.
- Offer leadership and direction to all support staff within the department.
Our Medical Surgical Department:
The department has an average daily census of 14, and a monthly census of about 400. We treat patients with a wide variety of medical issues including Pneumonia, Cellulitis, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Renal Failure, Chest Pain, and Liver Failure. We are a team that enjoys supporting each other and working together with a vision. We participate in community events to educate our local population on preventive care and collaborate with city and county leaders to provide the needed resources to our community.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- One-year experience in nursing preferred.
- Current Texas State RN License.
- CPR (American Heart Association).
- ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
- PALS (American Heart Association) within 18 months of hire/transfer date.
- NIHSS required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
