Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Gana-A'Yoo, Limited - Antarctic Program. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals for our team members stationed at the South Pole Station.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our team members, ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise and train a team of production cooks to ensure that they are equipped to prepare and present meals to the highest standards.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to ensure that all necessary ingredients and supplies are available to meet the demands of the kitchen.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the kitchen team, ensuring that they are motivated and empowered to deliver exceptional results.
Requirements
  • Education: High school education or equivalent, with a degree in culinary arts or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, with experience in a high-volume food service environment preferred.
  • Certifications: Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate required, with a valid driver's license and U.S. Passport also required.
Working Conditions

The Sous Chef will be required to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. The successful candidate will also be required to work in a remote and isolated environment, with limited access to amenities and services.
