Position Overview

Role Summary

The Marine Project Coordinator oversees the management of yachts and boats throughout the donation, leasing, and sales processes. Each vessel is treated as an individual "Project" requiring meticulous management of assessments, inspections, and necessary enhancements to ensure optimal upkeep of all boats contributed to AMIkids for various programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Yacht Donation Facilitators to evaluate potential donations, conduct visual inspections, and participate in marine surveys for vessels under consideration for AMIkids.
  • Document and quantify required maintenance and repair tasks; outline project scope and aid in the formulation of Material Improvement budgets for all vessels, including those in the AMIkids operational fleet.
  • Establish and oversee project timelines to ensure timely completion of maintenance, repairs, and enhancements within budget constraints.
  • Develop and implement a "Quality Control" checklist to be utilized for each donated vessel.
  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure project milestones are achieved for each boat.
  • Engage with and manage external vendors to ensure quality work is performed.
  • Assist in procuring necessary parts and materials for each project, adjusting budgets as needed.
  • Evaluate the quality of completed work and create a vendor performance evaluation system.
  • Monitor all vessels to guarantee routine maintenance is conducted and that safety and security equipment is inspected at appropriate intervals.
  • Manage all Projects with a keen focus on potential budget overruns or delays.
  • Communicate project updates to Facilitators, Boatyard staff, and AMIkids management.
  • Enhance skills to assist with yacht and boat movements as required, and operate AMIkids vessels for educational events as necessary.
  • Work alongside the Marine Program Manager to educate and mentor AMIkids Youth involved in the Marine Education Program.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid through a nationally recognized organization.
  • Provide first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with national standards.
  • Complete necessary training and certification in crisis intervention and physical restraint as mandated by state and contractual obligations.
  • Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Captain License is mandatory, with a preference for 100 ton or unlimited. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the marine sector is essential.
  • Experience in project estimation, service order creation, and project management is necessary.
  • Operational understanding of large yachts and boats, including maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently or collaboratively.
