Job Summary

CALM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant to join our team. As a Program Supervisor for our Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program, you will provide support, guidance, and training to our county-wide team. Your expertise in child development and infant, family, and early childhood mental health will be essential in ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with hiring, training, and mentoring new consultants.
  • Inform and guide county-wide program development and best practices.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate weekly reflective supervision, individual administrative supervision, and case consultation.
  • Model and implement the consultative stance and the national consultation competencies.
  • Partner with consultants in the field to model implementation of assessment, observation, screening tools, and reflective practice.
  • Review consultant documentation to ensure fidelity to the model.
  • Monitor program outcomes and support program evaluation efforts to guide continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to reports as required by funders, partners, and CALM.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, oversee onboarding of new consultee sites.
  • Contribute to evaluations of staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and support performance and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Represent the program in various settings and build effective collaborations with community partners.
  • Guide implementation of mental health best practices in collaboration with families and adults to promote healthy social and emotional development of children.
  • Collaborate with families and providers to assess relationships, routines, and practices that impact the classroom or home climate.
  • Conduct classroom observations to assess and inform classroom culture, daily routines, relationships, transitions, and challenging behaviors.
  • Meet with providers to review observation and assessment data and develop plans to support social, emotional, and relational well-being.
  • Partner with providers to support ongoing communication with families about mental health, behavioral health, or developmental concerns related to their infant or young child.
  • Develop written intervention strategies to assist providers with positive behavior-support strategies to promote optimal social-emotional development in infants and young children.
  • Connect and refer children, families, and providers to programs, resources, and supports that will foster their wellbeing while addressing barriers to access.
  • Provide group and individual training on social and emotional wellness with specific topics related to infant and early childhood development, trauma-informed care, attachment, self-care, and other related topics.
  • Guide selection, implementation, and interpretation of social-emotional screening and assessment tools, and their findings.
  • Meet regularly with providers and administrators to review information and feedback about outcomes of, and satisfaction with, consultation services.
  • Create a shared understanding of the effects of trauma and adversity, including oppression, discrimination, racism, and gender inequity on the developing brain.
  • Completes all agency required documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with agency policy and best practice.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, families, teachers, and school staff.
  • Participate in regular administrative supervision, clinical/group supervision, reflective supervision, team meetings and agency-wide meetings.
  • Participate in training and work towards certification in available modalities relevant to the program, as directed by the senior manager.
  • Maintain active clinical license with California licensing board (BBS or BOP).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) preferred -OR- eligible to be registered with the CA Board of Psychology as a Registered Psychologist.
  • At least three years of experience providing mental health services to children zero to five years of age.
  • Experience providing Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in child development and infant, family, and early childhood mental health.
