Dietary Aide Job Description

At St Luke at Portage Lake, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing exceptional food service and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, adhering to Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department Policy and Procedures.
  • Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals, ensuring timely and efficient meal delivery.
  • Meet scheduled meal and snack times, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Set up the dining room and serve residents, promoting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Wash and store dishes, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Report any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair, as well as any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food supplies, ensuring accurate inventory and efficient storage.
  • Understand facility's fire and disaster plans, following established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Follow facility Infection Control Policy, promoting a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
  • Ensure that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Report all grievances and complaints made by residents to the Dietary Manager, maintaining open communication and resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with all HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and security of resident information.
  • Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to assume accountability for all data contained in the employee's handbook, maintaining accuracy and integrity.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
  • Numerical accountability is necessary for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals, as well as good motor coordination and manual dexterity for various work routines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including during emergency situations, and be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
