JOB SUMMARY:

Under guidance, provides foundational professional assistance in various domains including maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental, and traffic management.


JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

With limited oversight, supervises a district pre-construction and/or construction survey team, or a statewide geodetic and mapping control team, overseeing all aspects of surveying activities.

Communicates to the team the survey data required for each assignment and instructs team members on the utilization of all survey apparatus to guarantee comprehensive data collection.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The chosen applicant must fulfill the advertised minimum qualifications, which include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.


STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR Associate's degree in a relevant field OR One year of experience in a comparable position.

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In-depth knowledge of processing in TBC, Trimble M3, S7, S8, R8, R10, DINI, or Leica P40.
Experience in operating survey instruments and associated equipment (e.g., Total station instrument, high precision level) for pre-construction and/or construction surveying.
Thorough understanding of surveying methodologies and familiarity with electronic survey data processing techniques.
Ability to read, interpret, and convey technical manuals and instructions related to the role.
Proven experience in locating and identifying relevant information on maps, plans, aerial imagery, and deeds accurately and swiftly.
Experience in drafting basic correspondence and preparing job-related documentation.
Proficiency in executing trigonometric calculations.
Capability to compute alignments and offsets.
Basic understanding of departmental policies and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to visualize directions, elevations, and project scope.
Possesses the physical capability and endurance necessary to fulfill the core responsibilities of the position.
Ability to oversee and assess the work of team members.
Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and propose solutions.
Ability to mentor and inspire team members; to adapt to and effectively utilize new tools and methodologies.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with management, team members, and external stakeholders in a professional and cooperative manner.

Ability to manage personal time efficiently while establishing clear personal objectives.

Exhibits a strong commitment to work and upholds a high standard of ethical conduct.

Dedicated to delivering quality customer service.

Willingness to travel statewide.


AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a Registered Land Surveyor License.
Demonstrated ability to create new procedures when established guidelines are not applicable.
Demonstrated ability to set appropriate work objectives in alignment with departmental goals and effectively organize tasks to achieve them.
